Identifying Weaknesses:
Almost every powerful enemy has one or more Elemental or Physical Weaknesses, as well as one or more Stagger Conditions:

Elemental Weaknesses
Any time an enemy is hit by a particular type of attack, the effectiveness of that attack is updated in your database. Cccess this data in combat by tapping R2/RT, which pauses the fight and brings up a detailed summary of enemy abilities. The file lists total hot points, common drops, and more---including Elemental Vulnerabilities along the right side of the screen, recording them as Halved (Half damage), Normal (standard damage) or Weakness (increased damage). To reveal if an opponent has a weakness, strike an enemy with that type of attack a single time, then check the menu. The data will update in real time. For example, attacking an enemy once with Thunder will uncover the effectiveness of all electrical attacks, a single sword stroke will show the effectiveness of physical attacks, etc. This datafile is continually updated between battles, so if you face a duplicate incarnation of the enemy later on, you can reference it again.

Stagger Conditions
E nemies will Stagger under different conditions, and discovering a particular enemy's Staggers can be a bit of a trial and error process. Every stagger-effective attack affaects the sine-wave meter above an enemy's life bar. By watching which kinds of attacks cause this stagger bar to advance through blue to yellow to red, players can learn which general attack patterns and elements cause enemy staggers. Whenan enemy is Staggered for the first time, his stagger condition is updated in the database and may be checked by pressing R2/RT in combat. It is wise to check this updated Datalog entry whenever first

New Game +:

To start a NG+ you can either get a Game Over by running out of days or complete the game by defeating the final boss.

When starting a NG+ (regardless of the method unlocked) you retain the following:

-All items, except quest items.
-All weapons, except one weapon which you get in final dungeon.
-All shields, except a certain shield you get in the final dungeon.
-All accessories.
-Accumulated statistic bonuses, EP and ATB increments, as well as item slots.
-Gil obtained.
-All garbs and adornments collected.
-EP abilities obtained.

You only unlock the following if you unlock NG+ by defeating the final boss:

-Option to select HARD mode. Forges carry more powerful equipment in this mode.
-Can upgrade shields and weapons at the Forges with upgrade materials dropped by enemies or purchased from certain shops. -Weapons and shields can also be downgraded.
-Accessories are upgraded a bit differently. For example, finding the same accessary you already have in a treasure ball will cause your accessory to upgrade.
-Damage output is increased by adding a new option in settings menu called Limit Break. Get it by collecting treasure cube in the Ark on Day 1. When this option is ON, Lighty's STR and MAG can be increased to 9999, instead of capped 5000. Her HP can also be increased to staggering 99999 HP! Note: you are not graded after boss or Omega battles and you can't submit scores. You can still obtain trophies though.

The following is not retained in NG+ regardless of the method

-Any and all quest progression
-Enemies slain counter

The extra day is a linear, descending dungeon filled with with Omegas. Defeating each Omega opens a teleporter to deeper depths of the dungeon. The creatures here drop amazing loot and the Dungeons serves as wonderful treasure trove of upgraded weapons for The Last Day. Note that time does not stop in the 14th day Dungeon (even during battle.) and Chronostasis does not function. It is possible to teleport to the surface from the first room of the 14th Day Dungeon via Red Cactaur, emerging in the Dead Dunes. It is likewise possible to return via the same method.

The Rare Merchant:

There is a merchant that appears at random times/places and is marked Forge (Rare). He offers many unique items and powerful Garbs, some unavailable elsewhere. To get him to appear, reach Day 3 and visit at least one Outfitter shop. The game will then perform a spawn check every in-game hour, using a probability cycle of 25%, then 50%, 75% and finally 100%. This means he will appear at least once every 4 in-game hours. The following is a list of all 20 locations he can appear in, and below that a list of the items he sells:

North Station Plaza (near the waterfront directly across from the station)
Old Town (to the right of where you enter coming from North Station)
Pilgrim's Causeway (South End)

Glutton's Quarter (southwest, in the middle of all the restaurants)
Near the Cactaur Statue Reveler's Quarter (back alley to your left when coming from Fountain Square)

Final Fantasy theme easter egg:

Go to the Yusnaan station entrance and find the marching band that roams the area all day. Listen closely to the music; it is the main theme for the Final Fantasy series. Additionally,  the crowd will sometimes chant the Final Fantasy series fanfare when winning an arena match.

Miqo'te race from FF14 easter egg:

There is a secret Garb you can earn by obtaining fireworks from every Chocobo girl in Yusnaan within the main quest. Once done, you will be awarded with a Garb that offers a Final Fantasy 14 fanfare and causes Lightning to say phrases you'd expect to hear from the cat-like Miqo'te race, such as  "Do you like my ears and tail?"

Alternate victory fanfare:
The fanfare after a battle changes depending on the Garb worn, such as the Yuna or Cloud Strife garbs. Wear other Garbs to hear different fanfare songs and have the characters say unique phrases.

Odin's reincarnation easter egg:

The recurring entity in the long-running Final Fantasy series makes his return in the strangest way possible. During your journey through The Wildlands, Lightning will come across the legend of a mysterious White Chocobo-- a harbinger of the apocalypse. Lightning rescues the White Chocobo from Chocobo Eater and nurses him back to health with Greens, Chocobull, Animal Potion, and other supplemental items. From then on the White Chocobo aids you in combat but Lightning and others note a strange familiarity with the White Chocobo, as if the two have met before. After the battle with Caius and you leave the ruins of Valhalla, Yeul reveals to Lightning that the Angel of Valhalla is Odin-- the White Chocobo. That's right, your Chocobo is actually the incarnation of the Eidolon Odin.

Final Day fleeing hint:
The penalty for fleeing a fight is lost hours. However, the Final Day has no time and so players can spam retreats during Final Day battles without consequence. Any non-scripted battle can be fled, and the enemy will disappear when Lightning returns to the map. Fleeing during a scripted battle merely sends Lightning back to the most recent Checkpoint.

The puffy flying creatures from the Final Fantasy series appear in a hiddle village in the Wildlands. Among the Moogles is FF XIII-2 protagonist Mog.

Cid easter egg:
Cid makes a pseudo-appearance as a manifestation of The Chaos, a singular personified embodiment of the tortured souls who appeal to Lightning toward the end of the game.

Biggs and Wedge easter egg:
Repeatedly visit Yusnaan to discover that the two masked strangers who act as gatekeepers to the Industrial Area passageways are in fact Biggs and Wedge.

Invulnerable build hint:
By adjusting two Schemata with invulnerability, one 100% resistant to physical attacks and the other 100% invulnerable to magical attacks, you can pretty much be impervious to damage if you switch between them in combat.

Pre-order Bonuses:
